What is Assassin’s Creed Unity?
Assassin’s Creed Unity is a third-person, open-world, historical fiction, action adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft. It is one of many installments to the Assassin’s Creed series. For those who have never played the previous Assassin’s Creed games, it will not ruin your gaming experience if you were to start with this one as your first. What sets this one apart from it’s predecessors is the introduction of cooperative multiplayer and character customization to the series; which includes armor, skill, and weapon customization. The Assassin’s Creed games are actually set some time in the future while the main character is sent into his ancestor’s memories.
What is it about?
The Assassin’s Creed series primarily revolve around the rivalry of two secret societies: the Assassins and the Knights Templar. Unity is set within Paris during the French Revolution, the story follows protagonist Arno Dorian (voiced by Dan Jeannotte) who attempts to expose the driving force behind the revolution. Arno joins the Brotherhood of Assassins after the death of his [adoptive] father (who was a Templar dun dun dun!). Without giving away any spoilers, Arno does manage to come out on top through a series of plot twists. You also run into Napoleon Bonaparte (it’s the French Revolution, totally not a spoiler!). The video posted below is the world premier trailer, it builds so much anticipation for Ubisoft’s introduction of the online co-op mode.
How good is this game?
Once I learned the game play style, this game was really enjoyable. The main story line was somewhat predictable to me, but it was still very well written. The co-op mode is amazing. My friends and I have a great time exploring Paris and limited areas of France. As much as I enjoyed this game, the replay value is low. Co-op is limited to certain missions and once you complete the main story a couple of times it just doesn’t quite capture your emotions the same way it did the first time.
