5 Things To Do At San Diego Comic-Con Without Badges

Badges have been sold out for months but that doesn’t mean you can’t join in all the fun and festivities at San Diego Comic-Con. A year ago in my first blog post I told a sad story of how I wasn’t able to get into SDCC anymore because one year I decided not to go. There is so much for me at SDCC that it’s heartbreaking every year it comes around. I currently don’t have an “industry friend” that can get me in. It’s so popular badges sell out in record time. SDCC2015 badges sold out in just one hour! Though, thanks to its popularity so many other events are popping up to take care of the overflow of people. The convention center can only hold so many people.

Anyhow… I’ve got the summer nerd convention bug after attending AX2015 last weekend. I discovered I can only handle one day of all-day walking, but that was Los Angeles. SDCC is home. Living in San Diego makes it that much easier to take advantage of the things happening outside of the convention. To make the best of a not-so-ideal-Comic-con situation, I’m going to “try” to do all the things surrounding SDCC.

Here’s my list of 5 things I think would be fun to attend. See you out there!

1. Nerd HQ will be at The New Children’s Museum. This is like a convention in itself. Panels and special guest appearances include William Shatner, Joss Whedon, and more. See www.TheNerdMachine.com.

2. The Walking Dead Escape. I LOVE The Walking Dead! This is an obstacle course at Petco Park where you can be a zombie, a survivor, or just watch. Being a zombie might be fun, if not, I’ll survive. See www.TheWalkingDeadEscape.com.

3. Walker Stalker Fest. This has been plastered all over my Facebook feed. This too, is like its own convention. See WalkerStalkerFanFest.com.

4. Nerdist Podcast. Chris Hardwick and friends will be recording their podcast at the Balboa Theatre. Guests are Sir Ben Kingsley, Peter Capdaldi (Yes, Doctor Who!), Maisie Williams, Tom Hiddleston, and Guillermo del Toro.

5. The Nerdist CONIVAL. This looks like fun.
