Meet Our Interestingly Normal Mascot

I posted a simple but adorable drawing my daughter Ava did on Instagram several weeks back and it’s now the Interestingly Normal mascot. She named him Bob.

Ava’s only been drawing for a about a year and half but she’s super talented. It all started when we got a big dry erase board. She was obsessed with Disney’s Frozen and drew them from memory. From then on, she’s been churning out artwork as if she’s been commissioned to fill up a gallery.

I wanted an original, simple, and cute character to be the Interestingly Normal mascot, but couldn’t find the time to sit and draw it myself. Nor could I relay exactly what I wanted to a graphic artist. I had let Ava draw in one of my steno pads because she was so compelled to draw that she’d draw on anything. One day while flipping through the pages to get to a blank one, I came across this drawing. I nearly flipped with joy because I had found what I didn’t know I was looking for. I asked her if I could use it for the website and she said yes.

This kid is scary talented! I’m not just saying that because she’s my kid and everything my kid does is great. She truly is an artist and she’s only 6 years old. One day, she just picked up a marker, pencil, crayon, pen, or whatever it was and just started drawing what she saw and liked. It’s only getting better and better. Imagine if she learned some basic techniques…
